AAU Baseball Announces 2018 International Collegiate Summer Roster

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla.—Amateur Athletic Union of the United States Baseball (AAU) has announced the 15-man roster for the 2018 Scotland friendly series and Ireland International Baseball Festival Tournament.

The roster features 9 veterans of the collegiate summer baseball leagues, including 5 former scholastic All-Americans and 5 collegiate summer baseball league All-Stars.

"We're excited to make this official announcement of our 2018 roster," said Ed Skovron, National Chair of AAU Baseball. "AAU Baseball strives to compete on the international stage at all amateur levels of the sport and we are thrilled to announce this group of stellar athletes and coaches to represent us as ambassadors of amateur baseball."

CJ Cummings, Jimmie Gentry, Connor Graham, and Mac McGrath all return from the 2017 and 2016 regular season championship squads that played as the Sant Boi Barcelona Falcons representing Spain in the Collegiate Baseball League Europe (CBLE). Fellow 2017 players Daniel Keating and Isaac Lewis, who rostered but was injured and didn’t play, also return. They are joined by another international collegiate summer league veteran, Jordan Moon.

The 2018 roster will reunite New Jersey Tech teammates James Sofield and Brent Jones as well as Mid-Atlantic Wood Bat League players Kyle Davis, Conor Cochran, Cummings, Gentry, Graham, McGrath, and student manager intern Zach Renner.
The AAU also announced the addition of newcomcers Drew Ventrelle, Ryan Cunningham, and Joe Schipsi.

Maryland leads all U.S. states represented with athletes and coaches on the AAU USA International Collegiate Team roster with 30 percent, while New Jersey has 20 percent, New York and Pennsylvania 10 percent, California, Florida, and Virginia 7 percent, and Arizona, Illinois, West Virginia, and Georgia with 3 percent apiece.

Veteran AAU Baseball coaches Manager Mike Graham and Head Coach Chris Cummings lead the AAU USA International Collegiate Team's staff. 
Also on the staff as player development director is Jared Fabian of West Virginia University, a member of the NCAA Division I baseball-crazed Big 12 Conference, which includes Baylor, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas, Texas Tech, and West Virginia. 


Zach Renner (Salisbury University, Md.) is student manager.
The AAU USA International Collegiate Team will play first in Scotland as part of a friendly series vs the Scotland National Team and clubs in Edinburgh and Glasgow July 5-10. Opponents in Scotland include the Scotland National Team and the Edinburgh (Giants, Diamond Devils, Cannons), Glasgow (Galaxy, Comets) and Aberdeen (Oilers) clubs of the Scotland National Baseball League.
Ireland will host the AAU USA International Collegiate Team as part of the Ireland International Baseball Festival at Ashbourne International Baseball Centre, County Meath, July 10-15. Opponents include the Ireland National Team, Irish Baseball League All-Star Team, USA Military Blue Devils, and non-tournament match ups to be announced later.

The AAU USA International Collegiate Team is a premier international collegiate summer team followed by college coaches and pro scouts. The roster includes players ages 18-23 representing all college divisions. The experience offers high-level baseball and cultural exposure to the world at the same time.
