Maryland’s Kyle Davis commits to AAU USA International Collegiate Team vs Scotland and Ireland

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla.—Kyle Davis U/P (Lake Shore, Md.) has committed to play collegiate summer baseball for the AAU USA International Collegiate Team vs Scotland and Ireland.
He will attend Anne Arundel Community College (Md.) in the fall and play baseball. Playing for Maryland scholastic baseball power Chesapeake HS in MPSSA Class 4A, the 5-11, 160 pound Davis played four years for the Cougars in the Anne Arundel County Conference.
At Chesapeake HS, he hit .300 with 3 doubles and one triple and 15 RBIs. He was a member of the Cougars’ state championship team in 2015.
Davis said the AAU USA International Collegiate Team opportunity felt like his best choice for collegiate summer baseball to continue his career in the sport and experience more of the world.
Ireland will host the AAU USA International Collegiate Team as part of the Ireland International Baseball Festival at Ashbourne International Baseball Centre, County Meath, July 10-15. Opponents include the Ireland National Team, Irish Baseball League All-Star Team, USA Military Blue Devils, and non-tournament matchups to be announced later.
Scotland will host the AAU USA International Collegiate Team for an international friendly series at Edinburgh and Glasgow July 5-10. Opponents in Scotland include the Scotland National Team and the Edinburgh (Giants, Diamond Devils, Cannons) and Glasgow (Galaxy, Comets) clubs of the Scotland National Baseball League.
“I am looking forward to this unique baseball experience,” Davis said.
Davis joins a large group of talented players recruited by manager Mike Graham and head coach Chris Cummings, veteran Maryland youth baseball leaders and coaches of AAU Baseball’s Maryland RBI advanced skills development team, to play in Europe for the club that won back to back 2017 and 2016 Collegiate Baseball League Europe regular season championships.
“We are very excited to have Kyle Davis in Europe with us this summer,” Graham said. “He brings proven capability and experience to the team. We know him well from AAU Baseball as a hard working player, versatile glove who can play many positions, hits with purpose, and is a skillful baserunner." 
Davis plays AAU travel-select for perennial Maryland AAU baseball dynamo, the Pasadena Baseball Club Eagles. Pasadena won the 2016 Maryland AAU 19U State Championship and reached the finals again in 2017.
Playing for Pasadena, Davis has consistently competed at a high level and done well at the regional AAU Mid-Atlantic Wood Bat League and state levels. In addition to the 2016 Maryland AAU State Championship, Granger’s Pasadena teams won numerous regional championships while he was coming up the travel ball ranks.
He hit .320 with one home run and received the AAU Outstanding Player Award and was named All-District in 2015.
“Kyle is a versatile, dynamic athlete. He possesses the ability to play any position on defense,” Graham said. “These attributes have enabled him to perform at an elite level.”
Pasadena teammate catcher Jacob Granger is also committed to playing for the AAU USA International Collegiate Team.
In addition, Davis joins a cadre of college, high school and elite club players from all over the USA, including James Sofield and Brent Jones (New Jersey Institute of Technology), Drew Ventrelle (University of Chicago, Ill.), Middlesex CC commit Ryan Cunningham (Old Bridge HS, NJ), Joe Schipsi (Cabrini University, Pa.), and returners Mac McGrath (Shenandoah University, Va.), Connor Graham (Anne Arundel CC, Md.), Jimmie Gentry (Albright College, Pa.), CJ Cummings (University of Mary Washington, Va.), and Daniel Keating (Wellington HS, Fla.). Others are considering.
“My travel ball coach [Jake Granger’s dad, John] recommended the opportunity to me and my family thought it was a good idea,” Davis said. “Not too many guys get to do this in life, so I’m really blessed.
"Coaches Graham and Cummings are well known in Maryland for leading great AAU teams and are really building something special in international amateur baseball, and I can’t wait to be playing in Europe with them and all the terrific ballplayers rostering from all over the USA for this program.”
About the Team
The AAU USA International Collegiate Team is a premier international collegiate summer team followed by college coaches and pro scouts. The roster includes players ages 18-23 representing all college divisions. The experience offers high-level baseball and cultural exposure to the world at the same time.
