Each August the 12u AAU Grand National Champion represents the AAU at the Youth Baseball Network Championship in Branson, Missouri. In the 2017 family and friends from around the country will be able to watch the event on the ASBN Network.
Youth Baseball Network (YBN) is pleased to announce an agreement in principal with the Amateur Sports Broadcasting Network (ASBN) regarding producing and broadcasting the 2017 YBN National Championship. Multiple games will be streamed live on the YBN and ASBN websites.
In addition, games will be distributed to 1.2-million TVs per month via ASBN’s distribution partners. More specific information will follow soon.
ASBN is a broadcast media services organization. Since 2010, ASBN has been pioneering the broadcasting of amateur sports. In recent years, ASBN has added numerous capabilities, services and packages to better serve its partners and viewers – and believes that amateur sports are the backbone of communities throughout the country.
The 3rd annual YBN National Championship will again be played in family-friendly Branson, Missouri. The Championship will occur August 15-19, 2017 at the fabulous Ballparks of America youth baseball complex – a ‘baseball village’ like no other in America.
For those unfamiliar with the YBN Championship, it’s a very unique and prestigious invitational tournament of National Champions. The teams are the 12U World Series (National) Champions of several major youth baseball organizations.
The national organizations participating currently include: American Amateur Baseball Congress (AABC), Amateur Athletic Union of the United States (AAU), Continental Amateur Baseball Association (CABA), Dizzy Dean Baseball (DDB), and National Amateur Baseball Federation (NABF). A Missouri host team will also participate. (Other organizations are under consideration.)
All games played on the Ballparks of America championship field (a magnificent replica of Busch Stadium) will be streamed live. Other YBN events during the week are also being planned for live streaming.
To enhance the Championship’s visibility, games will also be available on 1.2-million TVs across the country via ASBN’s distribution program. Games on TV will experience a slight broadcast delay.
Fans viewing the YBN Championship will not only be pleasantly surprised by the talent level of these young baseball players, but also by the type of game they play. This in not Little League Baseball. These young champions play what is called ‘50/70 Baseball’. Or, as the kids call it….’Real Baseball’. Let me explain….
The YBN National Championship is played by MLB National League Rules, with a few safety addendums. Players take leads on base and, unlike Little League, may steal at their leisure. Also, the outfield fences are much deeper than Little League. In some instances, by more than fifty-feet down the lines and to center field. Home runs in ‘50/70 Baseball’ are a legitimate poke.
Regarding the actual term ‘50/70’, those numbers refer to the distance between the pitcher’s mound and plate (50’) and the basses (70’). Little League distances are 46’ and 60’, respectively. This is a huge difference, especially the extra 10-feet between bases. This distance allows time for great plays to be made.
So, be sure to put August 15-19, 2017 on your calendar to watch ‘real baseball’ played by multiple National Youth Baseball Championship teams.
